Energy Conservation:
Energy efficient street lighting Use in rural Village Panchayath areas.
World Bank study team has conducted detailed study on the above subject and submitted reports to concerned in Government of India. Ministry of Power is holding series of meetings with MNRE for implementation of this scheme across all States of India in Major Metropolitan Cities/ City Corporations/ Town Municipalities and Village Panchayaths.
National Highways and State Highways pass through many Villages in Karnataka. Street lighting in Village Grama Thanas, Exits for Gas Stations/ Refuelling Stations, Rest Rooms , Motels, Rest Houses need to to be given special care as per Highway standards regarding non glare and sufficient lumens at proper angles for Roads/ Pedestrian Crossings & Pedestrian side walks.
Inventory of existing street light fixtures in each control point of different roads are taken in Sampaje, Melchembu, Maragodu, Arekadu Village Panchayaths to help them to contact respective Zilla Panchayath & MNRE to provide Energy efficient street lights & involve in reduction of Global warming.
Madikeri Rural Electricity Consumer Forum is involved in preliminary stage to collect base line data of existing system & energy consumption to save energy
