Kodagu District which is part of  Karnataka from 1-11-1956 after State reorganisation of  districts on Kannada spoken territories distributed among different provinces merged with MYSURU State ( now Renamed as KARNATAKA) earlier princely state of Yadu dynasty. This hill station falls in the same longitude connecting Mysuru with  Mangalore Port  & Power grid. 

400 KV  Interstate EHV line connecting  Karnataka Power grid  with Kerala National Grid passes through South Kodagu. This line crosses Periyapatna-Siddapura Road near Maldare limits,Thithimathi-Pollibetta Road near Nellikad Estates and also crosses SH-90 and passes near Ponnampet limits. Establishing 400/220 Kv & 220/66 KV near Pollibetta  limits KODAGU  will  provide stable power to  South/ Central & North  KODAGU.

KUSHALNAGAR 220/66 KV 2x 100 MVA Main receiving station   commissioned in 2010 is feeding  power to KODAGU District  and  located on its Eastern border of District   on Kaveri river bank. Northern parts of Kodlipet & Shanivarasanthe Hoblis are fed from HASAN grid. PONNAMPET/ Srimangala/ Virajpet/ Siddapur/ Murnad are fed from SRS Hootagalli via HUNSUR with connectivity from KUSHALNAGAR via PERIYAPATNA- HANAGODU- THITHIMATHI ( Rajiv Gandhi Project Tiger. HUNSUR 220/66 KV Receiving station : KPTCL has planned in APW 2021-22 for establishing new  station  at  HUNSUR ( on Gowdagere Road) to take care of the loads of Hunsur/KR Nagar/ Periyapatna/ HD Kote and to feed South Kodagu. 

KANIYOOR 220KV: For arranging  alternate second source of Power to Dakshina Kannada & Kodagu Districts,  220 KV d/c line between Kadavinakote 220 with proposed new receiving station at KANIYOOR  of Sullia is proposed and likely to pass through  north Kodagu( Pushpagiri Hills) with lesser scattered forest areas  will facilitate feeding 220/66 KV at Madikeri limits and facilitate drawal of 66 KV lines beneath MC tower.  This  will be the future hub of Power to hill station & to feed Madikeri/ Somwarpet & Sullia Taluk rural parts and also arrange stable  alternate source to Kushalnagar & South Kodagu (PONNAMPET & VIRAJPET Taluks).

KODAGU District Hq- MADIKERI Town is a  hill station of in land and foreign tourist importance surrounded by villages spread in four hobli bordering western ghat biosphere, with present loads  fed from SIX 11KV  feeders with 281 distribution transformer centres and 27 HT installations. It is the District head quarters and geographical centre with hill roads[ NH275-SH27] on all sides.  Energy sent out from Transco KPTCL 66/11 KV at Madikeri in June 21 & July 21 are 15.96,580 & 16,24,380 units. Government Medical College with Research facilities and super speciality Hospital  is established  in MADIKERI. KODAVA Heritage centre is being established by Government of India Tourism Department to show case  Ethnic heritage of the District. This is likely to attract large number of tourists to Madikeri. 

Madikeri - Galibeedu- Kadamakal- Kalmakar-Kollamogaru- Balugodu- Subramanya- is the shorter Ghat section road connecting  popular hindu heritage temples Sri Kukke Subramanya located in the foot hills of Kumar Parvatha ( Pushpagiri Hill range) and Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala ( Kuduma Kshetra) with   MADIKERI to the nearest Railway station SUBRAMANYA ROAD Station (NETTANA) of KSR BengaluruHassan- Mangalore Railway line. 

SUBRAMANYA Temple town  Power  is arranged from   Subramanya 33/11 KV substation  by 33 KV line from PUTTUR 110/33 KV 3*20.0 MVA Power Transformer Bank via Savanoor- Kadaba with tap to Nellyadi stations and is the tail end of the system with constraints. Transmission line link from Madikeri end will arrange a second source to Sulya Taluk & Puttur Taluk tail ends. 33KV UG cable link is arranged between Guthigar & Subramanya substations.
