SAMPAJE Hobli-Power crisis
SUB STATION at SAMPAJE Hobli Hqs.
Proposals for new 66/11Kv substation at SAMPAJE(Kodagu) with feeder details, voltage regulation, energy loss calculation data are worked by field Engineers and forwarded to KPTCL by CESC corporate office for needful.
1) SAMPAJE KODAGU, Melchembu and Peraje VP with electrification from 1968, was catered power from Sullia 33/11KV Substation.
2) Sampaje( DK), ARANTHODU, Thodikana villages which are part of Sullia taluk are now catered power from two 11 KV feeders [Aranthodu Express feeding power to 74 DTCs of SAMPAJE ( SULLIA Taluk). Kodagu loads which was earlier fed from Sullia substation are connected to Madikeri substation.
3) In 1995, then Chief Engineer Technical and planning of Karnataka Electricity Board Bangalore conducted detailed study of both Sampaje ( DK and Kodagu ) formulated a proposal for establishing 33/11kv Substation at Sampaje (DK) near PWD inspection bungalow ( then). TCCM KEB accorded approval in its meeting no 108 held on 27-12-1995.
4)Karnataka Electricity Board accorded sanction to DPR by CEE RE Zone under REC funding vide no KEB/B19/7684/98-99/8-04-1999.
5) Above project included establishing 2*5 MVA substations at SAMPAJE by running 18 Kms 33 KV line with Rabbit ACSR in 11 KV line corridor from SULLIA. (
6) After reorganization of Escoms, Sampaje KODAGU with its neighbouring villages near borders were transferred on to Madikeri Kodagu district hqs by extending 11 kv line.
7) Due to increase in tail end concentrated loads with 71 tcs in Sampaje, Melchembu and Peraje VP(45 DTCs) necessity of Substation proposal by Madikeri O&M .
To find technical and administrative solution for improving power supply to these areas which are with 24% VR and 30% energy loss.
CESCOM is requested for the following improvements.
To solve acute power constraints CHESCOM need to consider Voltage Booster from 9.5 kv to 11kv and instal 1+3 RMU near Sampaje Police check post to minimise interruptions and improve voltage.
Madikeri SS to Madenad is 9 km. At this village, the Transmission line to Sampaje & Bhagamandala bifurcate. To propose 66 kv switching station with tapping structures to isolate faulty lines. This location will be ideal for locating "Madikeri West Rural station" facilitating feeding i) Residual F8 ii) Residual F6 iii) Mekeri iv) Galibeedu v) Water works feeders
Srimangala/ Hudikeri/Balele are radial substations extending feeders up to Kerala border.
Transmission line needs to be extended to NAPOKLU to improve tail end voltage.
Sampaje load growth potential by 2027 horizon is likely to exceed 10.0 MWs. Hence 66kv to be drawn. If 33KV is considered due to ROW constraints with 66/33 Kv at an intermediate location to cater power to Bhagamandala & Sampaje, Coyote ACSR need to be considered.for the 33 Kv lines.
NEED to consider 66 KV):
This line will be an inter-district Sub EHV network for Inter-escom power transfer & grid stability.
Later Peraje village will need a station. 33 KV line of M/s BPCL from Karike Village passes through PERAJE village energy of which is now pumped to Sullia grid, as there is no 33 kv substation in KODAGU near by Karike.
Establishment of 66 KV substation at SAMPAJE [Kodagu] will help to extend the lines to "PERAJE/ KARIKE/ SULLIA" in the interest of KPTCL grid.
