Maintenance of Distribution system


 Maintenance of DTC by Escoms: 

Electricity consumers of Kodagu particularly of Madikeri Taluk are happy to note from Honourable Energy Minister of Karnataka Sri V Sunil Kumar's twitter that CHESCOM has maintained 16710 TCs during the Transformer Maintenance Abhiyan. Every year lot of DTrs fail in MADIKERI Division. This Abhiyan is a welcome step by Energy Minister. Many 25 KVA new Trs were installed in Sampaje Hobli recently under improvement from Central assistance RAPDRP and other schemes. New Trs are not located in load centres and the secondary loads are not equally distributed on all three phases causing failure of LT winding of One phase.  

  1. Electricity Distribution companies in India particularly in Karnataka has implemented many schemes for bringing the HT LT distribution system and associated upstream EHV lines to be brought in conformity with CEA Regulations with distributed generation. 
  2. Chamundeshwari Electricity supply company looking after Distribution system five districts of Karnataka(Kodagu, Mysore, Chamarajanagar,Hassan & Mandya) has 267 "O and M units" spread over from Hilly areas of Western Ghats in KODAGU District to Border districts of Chamarajanagar ( CR Nagar and Kollegal Divisions). Unit offices are formed in prime load centres of Taluk Hobli head quarters and urban clusters with concentrated loads. CHESCOM conduct Public grievance meetings and Electricity safety weeks to create awareness among public. 
  3. Distribution Transformers Maintenance Abhiyan: i) This Abhiyan was carried out recently for a fortnight for intensive inspection and maintenance of Distribution Transformer centers   in prime areas. Minimum 2 to 3 hours power shutdown time was taken for maintenance of these Transformers.  Consumers had to suffer long durations of power due to this unscheduled interruptions availed for intensive maintenance at a stretch in each periods on successive days.  ii)O&M units need to plan the regular maintenance by turn regularly section wise Tc wise so that entire ward or Village is not disturbed. Escoms have  the database of mobile numbers of all the prime consumers of their respective O&M units transformer/ village wise. Learnt from home village Sampaje (Kodagu), that they are not aware of such maintenance. iii) Farmers of Hoddeti Bayalu Sampaje ( TC no 511756) had brought to the notice of Section Officer;Sampaje about overloading of loads on one phase and requested for distribution of loads in all phases.  DTLMS Register shows 25 KVA  CESC TC has 42.75 Kws load.  SAMPAJE Unit office the distribution of Three villages Sampaje Chembu & Peraje VP with 116 Tcs of different capacity.
