Utilisation of Infrastructure in Kodagu
CESCOM Madikeri Division need to initiate action to utilise the 33 kv line infrastructure constructed in 1998 between Murnad and Madikeri and in service till 2010 and make arrangements under RDSS and connect to the 66/33/11KV substation of Madikeri established in 2010. KPTCL Mysore has pursued with to CESCOM Madikeri vide no 6763-68/ on 8.01.2013, to make use of 33 kv infrastructure created at Madikeri.
KPTCL has kept the 66/33 KV Power Transformer & associated breakers with controls in idle charge for 5 years till 2015. By not utilising this infrastructure KPTCL & the Consumers fed by Murnad 33/11Kv substation (MARAGODU, MURNAD, Napoklu, Hoddur, Parane) have suffered loss from low system voltage from 2010 to 2021 and energy loss in additional length of 66 Kv like from Kushalnagar via Periyapatna -Hanagodu-Thithimathi. Infrastructure created by KPTCL for public interest & facilities is not utilized, amounting to national loss.
Madikeri 66 kv bus) is at a distance of 28.5 km from Kushalnagar Receiving station and Virajpet 66 kv bus is at 78.9 kms from Kushalnagar 220/66kv. 66kv substations commissioned in 2010 were 2x12.5 MVA 66/33/11 Kv transformer facility. Loss in peak power, voltage and Energy of extra length of transmission line is suffered by Murnad and Siddapur substations to around One Lakh consumers. Brought to the notice of respective Electricity Consumer Forums to study and approach the concerned Distribution Company for need.
Voltage at Madikeri is 66kv ( 28.5 km from KNR-66) and voltage at Virajpet (79th Km) is 58KV in peak season. At Murnad 33kv busbar it is 29 kv. (Need to cross check with log in peak season) Major works Division Kushalnagar were able to solve the ROW issues enroute[KNR-MDK] from 1998 till 2010 using specially designed tall towers in coffee estates with great enthusiasm and interest creating infrastructure for transmission line of 28 km in the alignment of old 33 kv line and created 66/33Kv references at Suntikoppa and Madikeri. Public feel sorry for this action of O&M Madikeri(Discom) for not realising the importance of this major infrastructure and continued feeding Siddapur and Murnadu from Virajpet 66KV, which is the present tail end of Kodagu grid (at 79.6 Km) with reference to Kushalnagar 220/66.
Madikeri Electricity Consumers Forum needs to interact with authorities to restore the system. CESCOM needs to take stock of transmission line loss. Large population of rural consumers of Kodagu Rural parts are suffering from low voltage and other power Constraints. Executive Engineer O&M Madikeri needs to study this subject and restore 33 kv line and breaker facilities for Siddapur at Suntikoppa and for Murnad at Madikeri station. Chances of using idle 33Kv line as 11 kv line in few places. Request field study for actual conditions.
Siddapur 4.5 MW + Murnad 4.5 MW loads are now connected to Virajpet 66/33 kv 1*12.5 MVA Power Transformer. Sum of individual feeder loads in Siddapur & Murnad are of the order 7 to 8 Mws. Immediate need to enhance station capacity at Siddapur/ Murnad & Virajpet. By transferring Murnad and Siddapur loads to respective 66/33 kv stations at MADIKERI & SUNTIKOPPA, South Kodagu consumers and consumers of Madikeri Taluk fed by Murnad/Siddapur will be benefited. Hakathur, Biligeri villages will also have the benefit of two sources Murnad and Madikeri stations. About 60000+ population fed by these Five feeders of the Murnad are now affected. (Parane. Napoklu; Murnadu, Hoddoor, MARAGODU).
Murnad & Madikeri substations had the connectivity of 33 Kv line from 1998 to 2010. The project of 66 Kv DC Line from KUSHALNAGAR and establishing 66/33/11KV substations at Suntikoppa & Madikeri was completed in 2010.
